It was a privilege for the band to be involved in this new and exciting project. Michael Nyman is one of the world's leading minimalist composers and Wingates are honoured to bring his music into the brass band world. Michael came to hear the band rehearse and was amazed at how his music sounded and at the spirit of the band. His music, for those who are not familiar with it, is exciting, challenging, rewarding and at times deeply moving. The CD features music from the films "The Ogre", "The Libertine" and "The Draughtsman's Contract" and a Nyman favourite "In Re Don Giovanni".  The colour and dynamic range available to the listener are astonishing and beautiful. This CD is a must for anyone interested in the brass sound and minimalist music.
Something completely different - Minimalist music written by Michael Nyman has been wonderfully arranged by the band's associate composer John Parkinson.
